The Somali community in the DMV area gathered in a show of unity and pride to welcome the new Somali Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Dahir Hassan. The event brought together a diverse group of attendees, including former Somali ministers, esteemed scholars, and respected community elders, reflecting the richness and strength of the Somali diaspora.
In his address to the audience, Ambassador Dahir expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the diaspora’s critical role in advancing Somalia’s development and fostering global partnerships. He outlined his vision for strengthening engagement between Somalia and its diaspora, underscoring the importance of collaboration in preserving Somali identity and promoting shared prosperity.
The event also featured heartfelt speeches from community leaders, cultural performances, and discussions on further uniting the diaspora to support Somalia’s progress.
