The Embassy of Somalia is the permanent diplomatic mission representing the Federal Republic of Somalia in Washington, D.C. Established in 1960, the Embassy has been instrumental in the reconstruction of the Somali state and officially resumed operations in November 2016 after an extended period of closure.

Our Embassy is committed to advancing our bilateral relations and promoting collaboration across various sectors of both nations.

Key objectives of the Embassy include:

  • Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation: Enhancing our enduring partnership with the United States in crucial areas of mutual interest.

  • Building Institutional Relationships: Fostering connections with U.S. institutions to create a conducive environment for engagement.

  • Promoting Trade and Investment: Expanding Somalia’s economic ties with the U.S. by creating investment opportunities and market access for citizens of both countries.

  • Providing Consular Services: Delivering timely, effective, and responsive support to Somali citizens residing in or visiting the U.S.

  • Advancing National Interests: Implementing Somalia’s foreign policy objectives and safeguarding the country’s interests within the U.S.

  • Expanding Diplomatic Networks: Building new partnerships in strategic areas to enhance Somalia’s role as a constructive global community member.

We also focus on engaging with the public to uphold and enhance Somalia’s image in the diaspora.

  • Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Closed on Weekends and Public Holidays
