Tourism in Somalia
Somalia offers a variety of tourism sites, from inland locations and beaches to wildlife areas. The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism is working to revive some of the country’s key tourism attractions.
Recently, a new Tourism Policy was introduced by the Ministry. This policy outlines how the tourism industry will be managed and revitalized, with input from key stakeholders, including the private sector and federal member states.
The vision of the National Tourism Policy is to welcome international tourists to Somalia by 2030, positioning the country as a recognized destination for tourism in Africa.
The Department of Tourism plans to work with various stakeholders to re-establish tourism destinations across Somalia. This effort aligns with the National Development Plan (NDP), which focuses on promoting economic growth, improving employment opportunities, reducing poverty, and ensuring fair income distribution across the regions, ultimately contributing to the country’s overall economic development.
