Effective September 1, 2025, the Federal Government of Somalia has introduced a mandatory electronic visa (e-Visa/eTAS) system for travelers to Somalia, requiring applications to be submitted online before departure via the official portal.
The reform replaces paper-based processes to streamline travel and strengthen border security. Applicants should complete the digital form, upload the required documents (including a valid passport), pay the applicable fee, and await approval by email, which must be presented upon arrival.
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Washington, D.C. encourages all travelers to apply well in advance of their trip and to verify entry requirements with the Immigration & Citizenship Agency’s official channels before booking.
