Somalia has a long history of friendly relations with many countries worldwide. It was a founding member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 1969 and has been actively involved in international forums since 1960. Somalia is committed to both bilateral and multilateral cooperation with many nations.
The Federal Republic of Somalia is a member of several international organizations, including the United Nations, African Union, and Arab League. Other memberships include the African Development Bank, International Civil Aviation Organization, International Finance Corporation, World Federation of Trade Unions, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Intergovernmental Authority on Development, and World Meteorological Organization.
