Somalia’s new Ambassador-Designate, Dahir Hassan, was warmly welcomed by the local Somali community in Virginia. It was a welcome event for the Ambassador-Designate and a discussion of the future of Somalia and the role of the Somali community in the U.S.
During the gathering, the community expressed their support for the new ambassador and pledged to collaborate closely with him to advance Somalia’s interests.
The Ambassador-Designate expressed his appreciation for the hospitality shown by the community. He highlighted the crucial role that Somalis living abroad play in the nation’s revival, emphasizing that their support, engagement, and investment are vital for Somalia’s progress.
The Ambassador-Designate requested the community to select five members who will join a new Diaspora Advisory Council to be introduced soon by the Somali Embassy in Washington. This U.S. nationwide council will work closely with the embassy to strengthen collaboration.
