His Excellency Ambassador Dahir Hassan Abdi formally presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General of Canada, at a ceremony held at Rideau Hall on June 23, 2026. With this presentation, Ambassador Abdi officially begins his duties as Somalia’s non-resident Ambassador to Canada, alongside his existing post as Ambassador to the United States.
Ambassador Dahir Hassan Abdi delivered the keynote address at Volunteers of Somalia’s AI conference in Minneapolis on April 25, speaking to an audience of Somali-American business owners, community leaders, and technology professionals on what he called Somalia’s structural case for leading, not following, the AI revolution.
